I can see the charm in the foliage and the more "wild" aspect, but I prefer Olympia. The more structured city landscape makes me feel more comfortable.
[And Olympia lacks dragons, except for the small ones that apparently reside at the cafe.]
I can certainly see how Wyver would not appeal to everyone. I’ve always been something of a traveler, myself, so I think I will be fine regardless of the locale. I have some friends here, though, and I’ll wait to see where they ultimately decide to settle before making mine own choice.
[ Now that the immediate peril has passed, and they’re engaged in polite conversation, X’rhun takes a moment to look the other man over. Hydaelyn was home to all types, so his manner of dress isn’t all that unusual, though X’rhun must wonder how it is he sees with all that hair in his face. ]
If I may, what manner of weapon is it that you wield?
[It's all right, X'rhun. His hair is a very common conversation started. Though currently it's a bit dirtier than he'd like.]
It's my pool cue. Not many would even consider it a weapon, including where I'm from. But I can take just about any item and use it as a weapon thanks to my training.
It is called red magic, though the color has little to do with my skill set and more to do with my wardrobe.
[ So much red everywhere. ]
But suffice it to say, I have some healing abilities and some elemental spells at my disposal, as well as the ability to magically enhance my sword strikes.
I was taught basic magic when I was young, but I developed this style almost entirely on my own.
It took many years, and I'm always looking for room to improve upon it.
[The ball is solid and red, but not as red as X'rhun's clothing. It dissipates after several moments, leaving nothing but maybe a light sparkle.]</small.
Though lately, I've been considering shifting my focus.

[ Apparently billiards was not a thing where X'rhun was from. ]
But that seems rather extensive, to be trained to use anything as weapon.

[But don't get him started on these sports because he's kind of a billiards nerd. All those angles and trajectories and physics.]
I'm gifted, if one can call it that. [Curse might be a better term, in his opinion] Place anything in my hands and I can use it within minutes.

[ It’s okay, Venom. X’rhun is a magic nerd, so they can be nerds together. ]
What would you call it, if not gifted?
no subject
[He sobers up a bit.]
I'd call it some kind of ability, as I'm not overly fond of it.
[More like, "it is what it is".]

[ X'rhun may tease and poke and prod, but he knows when to let things lie. ]
I myself am handy with a blade, but little else, aside from my magic.

Oh? What kind of magic to you wield?

That's quite the varied magic arsenal. I don't believe I've ever come across weapon-enhancing spells. You must have studied for years.

[ His tail twitches, almost happily. Careful Venom, or he’s going to start talking about magic in great detail. ]

I feel it's important to have such passion and determination when it comes to magic. Otherwise improving upon it would be difficult.

[ Because that almost made him sound like he is. ]

[He forms a red billiard ball in his hand with a flick of his wrist.]

That seems to be quite a specific brand of magic. Was it something you were always able to do or were you taught?

Mayhap we should compare notes sometime. But what is it you're thinking of doing instead?
no subject
The magic exists where I'm from, but I never learned it. I believe it's time to change that.

I myself know a trick or two, but I'm far from being a full-fledged healer. I wish you luck in your endeavor.

[He's done enough of that for a few lifetimes.]

[ He can make a decent guess, of course. Someone who claims to be that adept with weapons would surely have a life filled with fighting. ]
If it isn't too forward, what was it you did before awakening here?
no subject
[It was either being up front or using "professional" again.]
I led a guild of assassins for a few years before... retiring, so to speak.

It sounds to me as if you're trying to turn over a new leaf, so to speak.
