[ X’rhun would not expect anything less, to be honest. He’s not even surprised to find Ardyn’s hand still on Valiant’s neck when he opens the door. Valiant, for her part, just likes the attention, headbutting Ardyn’s retreating hand as he moves to step inside. ]

Miss you? Oh, every moment of my life, Ardyn.

[ Said in true dramatic fashion, hand over his heart and everything. His eyes do eventually land on the box in Ardyn’s arm, however. ]

I’ll be. You really do have something for me.

[Ah, Valiant... don't worry, friend, he'll pet you on the way out, too.

But for now, Ardyn spins on his heel in a rather dramatic fashion (unsurprising), so that he faces his friend with a smile.]

Of course. I never lie. [THAT'S A LIE] I saw something wandering about the city, and thought to myself, 'My, X'rhun certainly would benefit from something that doesn't take an age to remove.'

[He hands the plain, rectangular box to him.] Here. [And if he deigns to open it right now, within there will be a couple of amazing red t-shirts, folded neatly within.]

[ Sure, Ardyn never lies. And X’rhun is the king of Doma. That little remark gets a roll of his eyes, but he has little time to remark on it since Ardyn keeps the conversation striding forward.

He takes the offered box with a laugh. ]

Ah, I see how it is. This is not so much a gift for me as it is a gift for you.

[ He has a whole closet full of other clothes Ardyn, gosh!! But of course he’s opening that box right up, pulling one of the shirts free to get a better look at it. He looks the garment over for a quiet moment, eyes landing on the stylized cat on the chest, and his expression cracks wide open. He just laughs, he laughs hard and loud until tears prick the corners of his eyes. ]

Oh gods, this is by far the best thing I’ve ever been given. And you got me two.

[ They’re ridiculous. He loves them. ]

[He seems pleased that X'rhun is so obviously delighted by his little gift; honestly, he figured that he'd see the humor it in, for Ardyn did as well, and they share in their appreciation for the ridiculous.]

It only functions as a gift for myself if you actually decide to wear them.

[He even got them in red for him!]

Will you? I made sure to pick out red, just for you.

Hmm.

[ He’s very obviously pretending to consider, because even if his expression doesn’t give him away at the start, the wagging of his tail certainly does.

He lowers the shirt to look over at Ardyn, a smirk curving his lips. ]

What’s the magic word?

[X'rhun......

Watch the very high arch of Ardyn's brow as he hums with consideration. Yes, he notes that smirk, and the enthusiasm of his friend's tail.

Still, if they're going with the theme of please not being a word that he looses from his lips very often, then his response should not be surprising.]

Hmm. 'Immediately'?

Ah, so close, but sadly no!

[ He might be enjoying giving Ardyn a hard time a bit too much. ]

Care to try again?

[Listen, friend, Ardyn will dance this dance all day long.]

Well, let me think... Is it 'forthwith'? Or any other innumerable synonyms for the same word?

Getting colder, I’m afraid.

[ Ardyn pls… ]

I’m quite sure you know what I’m asking for. You’re just being difficult. What ever am I going to do with you?

I assure you, I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about.

[And that is definitely a bald-faced lie.]

I'm not the sort of man to be difficult for difficulty's sake.

Oh, the hells you aren’t.

[ There’s another roll of his eyes, his gaze landing on the red fabric in his hands again. ]

However, given that you oh-so-kindly wear the gifts I give you, I suppose it would only be polite to return the favor, even if you won’t ask nicely. Shall I try it on?

[It is nigh impossible to miss the satisfied look in his eyes, and the way it wraps around every word that leaves his lips. He's innocent, really!]

I would very much like that, yes. After all, we must see just how well the shirts suit you.

Very well, since you’re twisting my arm so.

[ Ardyn is doing no such thing.

He sets the box aside to get to his feet. At least he doesn’t have his jacket to contend with, and in a short moment, he’s worked the buttons of his shirt loose and shrugged it off, tossing it aside. He pulls the t-shirt over his head next, ears pressed flat against his skull only to bob free once he pokes his head out past the collar. ]

Well, what do you think?

[ It does fit. It fits him well, in fact. ]

[Well, he's silent while he watches -- not without appreciation, of course. As X'rhun slips one of the red shirts over his head, Ardyn crosses his arms over his chest.

He pretends to give his question a long moment of consideration, as if the answer wasn't already abundantly clear.]

Hmm. Well, it certainly seems to fit. It's good to know that my memory regarding the general size of your... form did not fail me.

You spent a good while acquainting yourself with it recently, so I'm not surprised.

[ He flicks his ears, amused over his own joke. ]

[There's certainly no dearth of amusement in Ardyn's expression. ]

Oh, you're more than welcome. And it's as I said -- it presents a solution to something that had been a lingering problem before.

Oh, once is a lingering problem, is it? If you'd give me a little warning next time, I'm certain I can dress appropriately.

[ This is a comfortable shirt, though. He'll keep it on for the time being. ]

Even if it happened only once, the problem remained until now. And thus, lingering.

[Ardyn and his annoying semantics.]

You're not done, you know. You still have to prove to me you can remove it with haste.

[ Ardyn, please. X’rhun’s eyes are going to roll right out of his head at this rate. ]

You are incorrigible. All this fuss just to see me half naked.

[ But rather than argue, he tugs the shirt off again, easy as you please. ]

Ta-da!

[Forever shameless, Ardyn doesn't care if he's being ridiculous.]

Perfect. See? No buckles or buttons or anything getting in the way. Aren't you touched by how thoughtful I am?

[Also he gets to enjoy the view, so. Bonus.]

Oh, but of course. It warms my heart knowing you put such careful thought in how best to see me disrobe.

[ He then takes the shirt in his hand and… chucks it at Ardyn’s head, tail waving frantically with amusement even as he says, ]

You are awful.

[wow RUDE???

The shirt lands quite neatly on top of his head, obscuring his face for a hilarious moment. Ardyn reaches up to remove it, fingers in soft new cloth, leaving his hair even more of a mess than it usually is once he finally frees himself.

He's hardly offended, only grinning widely. Even as being called 'awful' is flung at him moments later.]

Is this how you show your gratitude? Literally throwing my gifts to you back in my face?

[ He hadn’t expected Ardyn to just let the shirt hit him – the man can teleport, after all – so the result is quite comical indeed. X’rhun is already grinning, but now his expression cracks wide open, teeth flashing. ]

This is how I scold you. Don’t think I haven’t noticed your ogling.

[Ardyn feigns absolute, utter surprise... even as he tosses the shirt haphazardly back at his friend, right at his face.]

I do not ogle, like some lecherous soul. I'm simply making sure all is as it ought to be.

[ X'rhun isn't as good a sport about the shirt throwing as Ardyn, and snatches it out of the air before it can hit him. ]

Oh, but you do, and you are. You've been enjoying the view from the moment I undid my buttons.

[ No more ogling for you, sir! He tugs the t-shirt back over his head, so there! ]
