I would say water spells would be quite useful too, but at least the ice lasts a while before completely melting if used in small concentrated bursts. I've not yet had reason to put other spells to the test as yet.
I do have some access to lightning, but nothing quite as powerful as a fully elevated black mage.
I do not find I regret it overmuch that ice comes most easily, though if they have a winter season here, I will be interested to see how it compares to the Coerthas highlands these past 5 years.
The same, to be honest. Much of my time has been tending to dragons, or exploring the city. The people here treat most outsiders very differently, at least compared to Olympia.

I will be sure to keep that in mind, my friend. There's a great deal of ground to cover, and the locals aren't talkative beyond "don't go here" and "that's none of your business."

Something I do not fault them for in the slightest. Nonetheless, it makes it difficult to get a better idea of the war from their perspective; how are they to be sure we are not spies digging for dirt, or intending to turn people against one another?

Aye, but it could be we are not asking the right person. In my experience a scholar or a historian may be more willing to talk than the everyman, if only because they're passionate about the subject.

In that case, there are some ruins leading from the city along the coast, as well as that dark shore the natives seem convinced is cursed. I did hear that some shadowy beasts were felled in the area that were likely related to such rumours, though.
My, go big or go home, is it? I admit those areas have captured my interests as well. Name the time and place and I would be glad to lend you my company— and my blade, should it come to that.
